Today’s the day. You’ve waited. You’ve wondered. And now Lawless book two is finally here!
I had such a blast writing Lifeless. The plot just flowed, and a handful of secondary characters whom I’d barely gotten to know in book one leaped off the page and hijacked the story.
I don’t want to give anything away, but book two kicks ass. It’s jam-packed with action, suspense, staggering revelations, and some steamy, steamy tension between Lark and Soren. Seriously, you have to read it…and you might want to call in sick to work, because I guarantee you won’t want to put it down.
To reward those of you who will run out and download the book right now, I’m giving away some awesome bonus content to those who buy the book within the first 48 hours! If you’re a fan of the series, you definitely don’t want to miss it. I’ve included three brand-new character bios AND a sneak peek at book three in the series!!!!
Mark your calendars — you’re gonna want to play hooky April 17th.
Lifeless — book two in the Lawless journey — will be available for digital download in less than three weeks. This book is packed with action, suspense, and steamy romantic tension. Seriously, you won’t be able to put this one down until you’re done. (You can read the first two chapters here.)
I had so much fun writing Lifeless, and not just because I got to build a world that I love so much. The characters are off the chain, guys. Maybe that’s braggy to say, but I just had a blast writing them. And I can’t even tell you who’s my favorite because that would be a SPOILER. The point is, you’re not gonna want to miss this.
As an added bonus to those of you who will rush out and buy the book as soon as it’s released, I am giving away some awesome fan extras for those who download Lifeless within the first 48 hours. I’ll be sending out an email as soon as it’s live, so make sure you join my Reader Army if you haven’t already. Members get the scoop and special sneak peeks before anybody else, so that’s where you want to be to stay in the know.
Don’t forget: April 17th — the day things like work and sleep became much, much less important. 😉
Can you believe it’s been more than two months since Lawless was published? It feels like December and January flew by — probably because I’ve been hard at work on book two AND deep in the excitement of my first Colorado winter. (If you just want an update on the book, feel free to skip ahead to the end of this post.)
A Little Life Update
So far 2017 has been anything but uneventful. I’m getting my first season of snowboarding under my belt — falling lots — and learning to play the ukulele. I bought myself one as a Lawless-Is-Published present to myself, and it’s brought me lots of joy. I’ve always been a crappy meditator, but playing my uke really calms me down.
I firmly believe that part of being a writer — or being human, for that matter — is filling your life with lots of new experiences. The places I go and the things I do often find their way into my books. In fact, there’s a character in book two who plays the ukulele.
I’ve also been grieving the loss of my beloved kitty, Oliver, who was hit by a car in our neighborhood. Oliver was my first inside/outside cat because he spent the first few months of his life outdoors and craved adventure and excitement. It was a beautiful Colorado day when he died, and although I don’t regret the freedom he had, he’ll be my last outside cat as long as we live in the city.
Just last week, we decided to add a new furry friend to our family. We adopted a beautiful, energetic 6-month-old cat named Jasper. He is freakishly similar to Oliver in looks and behavior, only Luna, our dog, is a little terrified of him. We think she believes him to be a spy disguised as Oliver and is trying to warn us. Still I’m confident that they’ll become buddies with a little time.
And yes, I’ve been writing…
It’s a very writerly thing to ramble on and on about my cats, but I know you guys really care about where I’m at with Lawless, book two. Many of you have already been in touch to tell me you enjoyed the first book and are ready for the next one.
Well, I’m happy to report that I have finished the first draft and will complete my initial round of edits this week! Book two is shaping up quite nicely. It’s full of adventure, awesome new characters, and much more information on the world in which the book takes place. I know I left you with a DOOZY of a cliffhanger, but I promise the payoff will be extraordinary.
I do have a confession to make: I’m not sure if three books will be enough to tell this story. As some of you might know, I try to plan out a series in its entirety before I start writing, but book two took a big departure from my original outline. Sometimes that just happens during the creative process, but it was definitely unexpected. I don’t know yet how many books will be in the series, but I’ll have a much better idea once I’m done with book two. In any case, I hope you’ll stick with me for the entire adventure. It’s gonna be a good one.
If you read Lawless, please head over to Amazon and Goodreads and leave a review. Reviews really help me out when I’m pitching the book to audio companies and when readers are looking for new authors to try. Plus, I really appreciate them.
I’m back in the Springs after a nice long Thanksgiving, and I’m very excited to announce that Lawless is finally here!

It’s been a long time since my last post. I’ve neglected the blog and the Reader Army newsletter because I’ve been pretty damn busy.
This summer I bought a 107-year-old house and moved from Missouri to Colorado Springs. Living in the city has been a big adjustment for me, but I’ve found the time to get out in the mountains with my boyfriend and my sweet puppy, Luna.
As many of you know, I’ve also been busy crafting a brand-new dystopian series that I KNOW you’re going to love. The first book is called Lawless, and it’s got all the action, romance, and intrigue of The Fringe. If you liked that series, you’ll LOVE Lawless.
The digital version will be out November 30th wherever books are sold, and I’m offering some very special perks to those who buy the book within the first 48 hours. (For more details, make sure you join my Reader Army mailing list.) Let’s just say, it’s gonna be awesome.
Here’s a little about the book:
When Lark was sentenced to twenty-five years behind bars, she thought San Judas was her lucky break. The primitive 16,000-acre community in rural New Mexico isn’t like any other prison. There are no cells, there is no warden, and Mother Mercy is the law.
She didn’t realize she’d be fighting for survival on a daily basis — battling hunger, violent inmates, and Mother Mercy’s iron fist. Lark’s only friend is Bernie — an off-the-rails environmental activist doing time for arson — and a mysterious stranger who’s been sending her illicit messages from the men’s colony.
Lark never thought escaping San Judas was possible until a message in a bottle changes everything: The guards outside the walls are disappearing, and the world as they know it is coming to an end.
Today’s the day! I’m thrilled to announce that Annihilation — book five of The Fringe — is now available for download wherever books are sold!

What is the Fringe Superfan Edition, you ask? This special edition is the same captivating finale you’ve been waiting for, but the back of the book contains a link and a secret password to access a Fringe fan portal packed with extras. (Hint, hint: I’m doing something super special for the Annihilation release. You won’t want to miss it!)
Here’s a little tease on what’s to come in book five:
Eli and Harper have fled the compound — on the run from the people who once fought by their side. Owen has been captured, Sawyer is infected, and Celdon is facing a crisis of conscience.
Beyond the cleared zone, Harper and Eli have joined forces with two unlikely allies. They have a plan to rescue Owen, but that means delaying their search for a cure that could save the compound from a deadly epidemic.
When Eli gets wind of an attack on the compound that puts Owen’s life in jeopardy, everything changes. Eli is determined to carry out the rescue, but Harper and the others know blazing through a war zone would spell disaster.
To save the people she loves, Harper will have to make a choice: follow Eli along on a suicide mission to rescue Owen, or push forward without him to find a cure.
In the heart-pounding final chapter of The Fringe, every choice has its consequences. Relationships will be tested, friends will perish, and the desert will burn.
